An Interesting Movie, the World Religions Project, and Spinning Wheel Problems

Well, Wayne and I watched an interesting movie tonight, "Into the Wild," about a young man who has just graduated from Emory University in Atlanta. His family life had always been somewhat troubled and, in his opinion, focused on the wrong values as well, so he decided to give his $24,000 life savings to a charity, to burn his "graduation money" from his parents, and to decline their the gift of a new car. He changed his name to Alexander Supertramp and lived up to it, hitchhiking and eating berries and taking odd jobs, stowing away on boxcars, and living his dream--seeking true happiness eventually in the wilds of northern Canada. It's really a fascinating movie. I commend it.

I also studied Indo-Aryan life and religious practice, the Vedic cycle, and the very beginnings of Hinduism. I am enjoying this project so much! It affects my whole life! I spun again for several hours today, knit on my bizarre log cabin blanket, and organized my stash a little bit. I am so loving spinning this same silver fine Romney! It just floats through my hands and becomes this fabulous lofty yarn seemingly of its own accord! And I'm never going to be through with it--I have eight pounds of it, after all. Maybe I'll just spin a couple of pounds to start with; I do have a whole bunch of pretty dyed fleece to spin, too. I don't know, though--nothing could be anymore fun than Xavier's gorgeous 2007 spring fleece!

Rosey, my Majacraft Rose (original name, huh?), is ill. The little metal sleeves on the spindle that hold the whorls and flyer in place have gotten loose, and I have lost all my little Majacraft Allen wrenches. It takes a #2 metric Allen wrench to tighten them, and Wayne went to Lowe's this afternoon and picked up a couple of small sets of Allen wrenches that include #2's, so tomorrow it's clinic time for Rosie! She needs a good oiling, too, and maybe I'll put the WooLee Winder back on for a while.

Off to bed--a short night with Daylight Savings Time beginning tonight!

That movies sounds good:) My Rose is also acting up I think it's the whorl theres a vibrating noise when I spin now :( only problem is I bought her used and the screw to the whorl was stripped a little when I got her so I'm gonna finish up the skein that I have on her and see what I can do. I spun the most beautiful bamboo and soy silk combo the other day :) http://www.flickr.com/photos/chargermedic/2316294991/
