New Things in My Life

I drove down to Dawn's yesterday and picked up my washed and carded fleeces. The darker gray Romeldale seems to have been a little tender and turned out a bit chewed up, but Xavier's gorgeous fine Romney light silver fleece (8 lbs.) is fabulous, and the little white Romeldale is just lovely. I've already spun a bobbin of the silver on Loosey and will ply it up to take as a gift for Patti when I visit the sheep finally. I've reserved Xavier's fleece for this spring unless it has a break in it.

I love to spin. I love to weave. I wished I loved to knit, but I lose interest so quickly and my thumbs hurt after so little knitting. I know, thumbs are heavily involved in spinning, too, but I seem to be able to tolerate it longer at the wheel. Nuts. All that yarn.

Still reading and watching DVD's about axial age religions--it's so interesting! It's like "Roots" for me!

I found Charlie Holst online and tried to send him an e-mail but couldn't. What's new? He's a research scientist, postdoctoral, doing research on some kind of women's cancer. Breast cancer maybe. He plays in a symphony and in a horn ensemble. I don't know where he is. Whit?

I love my family so much. My daughters. My grandkidlets. My husband. My siblings. I just love you all.

Oh, cheese, gush.

I voted for Barack Obama in the Washington primary. I asked Wayne about putting a sign up in the yard. He suggested that I put a sticker on my car instead. We'll see.

Tomorrow I'm going to see the doctor who did my last cataract surgery. He's going to look at my right eye, which the optometrist was unable to get corrected to 20/20 with any lens combination. Hopefully after tomorrow I can get some new glasses that will balance my eyes again so I stop getting headaches. I've never had headaches. I don't like them.

I'm back to knitting socks again. Maybe I'll get some finished this time. Then Marian's sweater and Whitney's scarf. Hmmm.

Yes crochet makes my whole hand hurt knitting just gets kinda annoying after a bit but spinning heck you can draft stuff out so that you don't really have to use your thumbs, but sometimes the webbing between my finger and thumb gets all crampy. Socks socks socks I still need to learn those :) Hope your eyes get better headaches are no fun :(

I have no idea about Charlie. You know way more than I do. Do you have any Texas friends who would help me track down Kristin Caffey?
